Frame Visual Art Finland grants: next application period begins
The Frame Visual Art Finland grant applications for projects promoting international export and cooperation in visual art open on Monday 12 August. Grants are awarded for international projects in different fields of visual art: fine art, photographic art, media art, applied art and comic art.
Grant applications are submitted via an electronic system. The application period begins on Monday 12 August at 9 AM EET (Eastern European Time) at [http://frame.apurahat.net] and ends on Saturday 31 August at 8 PM EET.
Grants for events, publications and visits by experts
Grants can by applied for events involving visual art that are held abroad and whose participants include one or more Finnish or artists based in Finland, artist groups and other actors in the field of art. The event can be a solo exhibition, participation in an international group exhibition, a biennale, a festival, an art fair, a seminar or a workshop. A grant can be awarded, for example, for covering the costs of transportation of the works of art or the costs of travel and accommodation.
A grant can be applied also for the production of a non-Finnish publication or printed matter on visual art that promotes the exhibition or work of a Finnish artist or the recognition of Finnish art abroad. A plan for the distribution of the printed matter or publication is required for awarding the grant. A grant can be awarded, for example, to cover the costs of the printed matter or publication as well as the costs of translation.
It is also possible to apply for a grant for organising visits by experts of visual art in Finland and abroad. The grant can be used to cover the costs of travel and accommodation or participation fees.
Private persons can apply for Frame’s grants, such as Finnish visual artists and artists based in Finland, as well as Finnish and international curators and producers. Working groups, as well as Finnish and foreign organisations and associations, such as art museums, galleries and cultural institutes, can also apply.
Last application period for this year in October
This year Frame holds three rounds of grant applications. The last application period for grants in 2013 is 14–31 October. Frame informs the applicants of the decisions on awarded grants via e-mail and publishes the information also on Frame’s website ca. 6–8 weeks from the end of the application period.
Frame’s grant procedure is based on the annual state subsidies received by the foundation from the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture.
The mission of the Frame Foundation, established in 2012, is to strengthen the position of Finnish visual art by promoting international cooperation and increasing interaction between the Finnish and international institutions and professionals in the field of visual art.
