Tallinn Music Week’s City Stage brings 65 free concerts to new unexpected locations around Tallinn
For the third year the City Stage sub-programme spreads festival buzz to unexpected and surprising locations. Music fans are invited to enjoy short exclusive sets that serve as a launch pad for many newcomer bands on the national and international scene, as well as hosting concerts by well-established artists. Free afternoon concerts feature 44 Estonian and 21 international artists on 12 stages.
Many new venues have been added this year like the archaeological pavilion of medieval Tallinn, Jaani Seek, the Temnikova & Kasela Gallery that promotes the edgiest Estonian contemporary art internationally, the design-knitwear shop of Liina Viira, NaiiV, the exotic Chinese tea house and restaurant Cha Dao and the new record store Terminal. As a tradition already, City Stage will launch its biggest stage in the atrium of the Viru Keskus shopping center, also the location of TMW info desk for wristbands, programme recommendations and festival guidelines.
The concerts at the offices of www.delfi.ee web portal on Friday, 28th March 15:00 – 16:00 are also available to watch on live stream or later on your computer or smart phone.
The TMW City Stage programme kicks off on Thursday 27th March in Viru Keskus with the Estonian alt-rock combo Sibyl Vane and Finnish stadium rockers Damn Seagulls. Jaani Seek stages the audiovisual semi-improvisation ofI Wear* Experiment and the beautiful vocal harmonies of the Latvian a capellaensemble Latvian Voices, whilst The Design and Architecture gallery hosts the Finnish punk’n’roll sensation Pää Kii. Among the highlights of the three-day programme are the Berlin art pop band Ballet School, Latvian electro pop duoInstrumenti, Danish noise melancholics Get Your Gun, Russian singer/songwriter Jenia Lubich, and the local favourites Marten Kuningas, Mari Kalkun, Argo Vals and many others.
Kids are welcome to all City Stage events, particularly to the Miia-Milla-Manda Museum for a concert by violin duo Jansen/Jüssi.

Tallinn Music week is the biggest indoor music festival of the region presenting 227 artists from 20 countries in Tallinn’s clubs and concert venues.
Festival passes and tickets are available on Piletilevi. The festival information desk is open in the Viru Keskus atrium from 24th to 29th March. All festival passes bought from Piletilevi should be exchanged for wristbands at the info desk. Festival passes cost 45 Euros until March 23rd and 55 Euros from March 24th.
