THE British Fashion Council and British Council has announced the launch of International Fashion Showcase – a platform for international emerging designers – which will take place during London Fashion Week. Nineteen embassies and cultural institutes across London will display work from over 80 rising designers, spanning the world from Belgium to Botswana.

Sarah Mower MBE, BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent and contributing editor to USVogue, will chair a panel that will judge each country’s selection of designs, with a final winner unveiled on Sunday February 19. Highlights are set to include Kaspar Paas – winner of the Estonian Young Designer Award – who is launching his own footwear brand, and work from Japan’s young milliner Kaji Masahito.

The showcase is part of the Fashion 2012 Cultural Programme and has been introduced to celebrate the year of the Olympics.
