NordMatch 2012 – Facilitate Nordic and Baltic Culture 11-12 October in Tallinn, Estonia

12. september, 2012

DSC5532A Nordic-Baltic conference for arts managers, artists and other professionals facilitating culture and cross-sector cooperation. Two days of case presentations, of refining and pitching project ideas. A vital question today is how art and culture can interact with and enrich other sectors of society. This is the topic for the second NordMatch conference that will be held in Tallinn, Estonia, 11-12 of October. NordMatch is a Nordic-Baltic meeting for professionals in the cultural field, in arts management, audience development as well as in administration.

The conference consists of three parts: case presentations, project idea development and pitching.

The presentations are from all Nordic and Baltic countries. At the conference you will also get the chance to refine project ideas together with others. Project ideas will be pitched to a panel with members from funding structures, Business Angels and persons with a vast  experience in running national and international projects and  cooperation. If you already have a product or run a service you want to promote, you can sign up to film a pitch.

Case presentations
Pia Areblad, director of the Strategic Alliances at TILLT in Sweden will draw on her longstanding experience of cross fertilising working life with art. Her approach is  ”I’ve learned 10 000 ways that don’t work”. Jan Fredrik Gröndal, an actor and director from Norway will present Fønix, a project to promote tolerance and freedom of speech in the aftermath of the terror attack of July 2011. Young people transform crashed glass into jewellery, and the  jewellery finances drama workshops. Astrida Rogule from Latvia will talk about how to develop a provincial city through an arts festival, whereas Ingi Rafu Sigurdsson from Iceland presents Karolina fund, a new platform for crowdfunding that also can work as a virtual employment market.

Refine and pitch ideas
In so called Advisory rings you can refine project ideas together with others. The method is presented by the explorer Pata Degerman, and he will also be one of the of the group leaders. You also get the chance to learn how to pitch your idea in the pitch workshop.
Some of the ideas developed in the groups will be pitched on Friday to a panel of Nordic and Baltic funds, Business Angels and other experts.

We also offer study visits party, mingle and match throughout the conference for new Nordic and Baltic cooperation.
The study visits are e.g. on Performing Arts hosted by Priit Raud and on Creative spaces/Telliskivi  hosted by Raiko Uri.
The moderator of the conference is Karl Martin Sinijärv, journalist, poet and the anchor of a culture show on Estonian TV.
