EARS makes Helsinki the hub where Europe meets Asia

EARS – Europe-Asia Roundtable Sessions is an international network of events and an online media connecting the creative hubs of Europe and Asia. EARS brings together talented people from both regions to discover business opportunities, share best practices and get inspired by new ideas. Since its start in 2012 EARS events have been organized six times. The latest ones took place in Beijing in November and in Shanghai in early December 2013.

In September 2014 EARS invites all international creative industry professionals to meet and network in Helsinki. EARS presents an extensive opportunity to build international networks and partnerships and serves as a platform for cultural dialogue.

EARS on Helsinki takes place on September 4-7, 2014. The four day event offers possibility to learn about the latest trends and phenomena in cultural industries and to meet people behind them. The focus will be on Asia and the program will include keynote speaks, roundtable discussions, networking sessions and company visits featuring tailor-made sections for design, music, performing arts and media professionals. Industry specific sections come together in panels and keynotes about branding, marketing and cultural policy in Asia.

The lineup includes pioneers from the Asian music and festival industry, one of the China’s foremost designers and key people from the Asian entertainment business and media: Shen Lihui, Founder & CEO, Modern Sky Entertainment, the leading festival organizer and music entertainment company in mainland China.

Paul Dankmeyer, Program & Artistic Director, Java Jazz Festival, the biggest music festival in Southeast Asia with over 100 000 visitors last year. David He, General Manager, Taihe Live, organizer of several major sports events (e.g. the NBA China Games) and music concerts of top Chinese and Western artists such Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars. Pan Jianfeng, Founding Director, SHTYPE, an internationally awarded graphic designer and one of China’s foremost typeface creators and design strategists.

Cheung Fai, Associate Artistic Director, Franco Dragone Entertainment Group, a new media, marketing and performing arts guru with experience of China’s major media companies, producing performing arts projects and managing cultural organizations.

Pelle Lidell, European A&R Executive, Universal Music Publishing, Lidell’s roster of European songwriters have sold more than 10 million K-pop records by making songs for K-pop stars such as BoA, TVXQ and Girls’ Generation. Meng Jinhui, Director, VICE China, VICE is the industry leading youth media company. Launched as a punk magazine, VICE has expanded into a multimedia network operating out of 36 offices globally. VICE China is a fully localized, Chinese-language branch delivering the most exciting content for youth audience in China.
