International Arts Professionals Summer School

suvekoolThe International Arts Professionals Summer School (2-6th of July 2012) is an intense week of inspirational learning for creative practitioners, arts managers and cultural project managers interested in engaging with the current debates and research in visual and performing arts management.


The Summer School is a joint initiative of the University of Kent, School of Arts and ENCATC (leading European network on Cultural Management and Cultural Policy Education) and will be hosted by the University of Kent, Brussels campus. It will be based on a mix of lectures, presentations, workshops and practical exercises. These will be delivered by both academics and international experts.  The programme and activities have been developed to engage cultural managers and creative practitioners with experience in the sector in new theories and practices in cultural management and offer new directions as well as practical example for their work and professional development.

The programme is designed for cultural and arts organisation managers and creative practitioners in the visual and performing arts. It will engage participants with experience in the sector in new theories and practices in cultural management and offer new directions as well as practical example for their work and professional development. A minimum of three years experience in the cultural and creative sector is required to attend the summer school. The participation of postgraduate and PhD students might be considered, depending on previous experiences.

Whether you are working with an arts organisation or you are leading a cultural project or event, the International Arts Professionals Summer School will provide a sound knowledge-base and will help to direct and support your professional development in this field.
The International Arts Professionals Summer School aims to:

 Promote innovation and best practice in arts management;
 Link young professionals and international experts across cultural organisations;
 Develop the next generation of international arts professionals;
 Engage with new thinking and new practices to support arts and cultural organisations.
