Welcome to the conference “Towards the sustainable tourism cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region”

The conference will take place from the 4th till the 6th of June in Tallinn, Estonia and is proposed to all cultural tourism stakeholders in the Baltic Sea region

Conference venue: Nordic Hotel Forum, Viru väljak 3, Tallinn, Estonia

The conference is organised by: Cultural Tourism 2011 project /Turku Touring (lead partner), Turku 2011 FND, Tallinn Creative Hub (former Tallinn 2011 FND) and Tallinn city government Culture and Heritage Department.

Some practical information:

1.   For those who need accommodation we have reserved a block of rooms for the  conference period at Nordic Hotel Forum. The price for single room is 105 €/night. Please use code “cultural tourism” while booking your room. Please take in consideration the pre-booking is valid till the 25th of May. http://www.nordichotels.eu/

2.   Participants from Finland can also use boat companies’ package inclusive of boat tickets and accommodation available on Internet. In this case we suggest to reserve your rooms at Viru Hotel or Tallink City Hotel as they are located conveniently nearby the conference venue.

 

3.   Participation at the conference is free of charge for everybody. The project covers travel and accommodation expenses only for members of steering group, working groups and partner companies.

 

4.    The get-together party, hosted by Tallinn city in the evening  of 4th of June will take place at the newly renovated Seaplane Harbour. For all guests of the party a private guided tour of the new premises has been planned. Transfers from hotel and back have been organized.

 

Seaplane Harbour is a new maritime museum that was opened in Tallinn in May 2012. The museum comprises of more than a couple of hundred large exhibits in unique seaplane hangars and on the water. The transfer to the museum and back will be organized. http://lennusadam.eu/en/

 

5.   Exclusive dinner on the 5th of June: Participation fee for the exclusive four course dinner at TV tower is 40 euros per person (drinks are not included).  314-meter high Tallinn TV Tower is the highest building in Estonia built in 1975. After a thorough renovation and re-opening to the public in April 2012 it has become a very popular destination among local and foreign tourists. It has a 170 m high viewing platform which has a unique view onto Tallinn and the Gulf of Finland, and some say – with good weather one can even see the lights of Helsinki. http://www.teletorn.ee/en

CULTURAL TOURISM 2011

  • Project Developing Cultural Tourism as a joint network in Capitals of Culture 2011 (Cultural Tourism 2011) is funded by Central Baltic Interreg IV A –programme. Project is administrated by Turku Touring/City of Turku and other partners are Turku 2011 – foundation, Tallinn 2011 – foundation and City of Tallinn, Culture and Heritage department. Duration of the project is 1.1.2010-31.8.2012.

•           CT 2011 joins the operators of culture and tourism in Turku and Tallinn in order to create more customer orientated services and product combinations.

•           CT 2011 builds up a permanent network between tourism and culture operators in the Turku and Tallinn regions both inside the cities and crossing the borders. Partner companies will actively take part in product development process creating joint Cultural Tourism packages presenting new fresh themes.

•           CT 2011 increases the accessibility and the fame of the joint product combinations. Joint symbols of accessibility in Turku and Tallinn will be planned and realized within the project.

•           CT 2011 enhances the know-how of the operators and builds up a permanent route of learning and know-how which can be used even after the project! The most important items handled in project will be transformed into e-learning entities that help culture and tourism actors to implement their services
